Our Commitment to Quality

Our scheme is governed by a dedicated committee of parents, staff, educators, and community members. Our qualified early childhood coordination supports educators with training and resources, ensuring all services meet legislative and quality standards.

We operate and follow the National Quality Framework (NQF), focusing on environments that build children’s confidence, wellbeing and independence through continuous improvement.

Consultation is central to our planning approach, with families, educators and staff actively involved through the committee and working groups. We are committed to ongoing professional learning and sustainable, respectful and inclusive practices across our scheme.

Respecting Country, Valuing Diversity

The broader community’s role in children’s lives is valued at Five Star Family Day Care. Connections are fostered between the service, other providers, community organisations and local members to build strong ties and support children with additional needs in the program.

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of the land where we work, learn and play.

We respect and embrace the diverse backgrounds, skills and cultures of all individuals, recognising their importance in children’s learning and in shaping our educational program.

FAQs

  • What qualifications do educators have?

Educators are required to hold early childhood qualifications and first aid training. They also receive regular support and ongoing professional development to ensure high standards of care and compliance

  • How is family day care different from centres?

Home-based care offers smaller groups, consistent routines and deeper educator relationships. This model allows for more personalised support in a home setting, which can be ideal for early learning and social development.

  • Why families choose this approach

Many families choose family day care because it combines the structure of early learning with the comfort of a home. With smaller groups and consistent care, children benefit from more individual attention and stronger emotional security. This is especially valuable during the early years, when stable relationships and personalised learning play a vital role in development.

Educators work closely with families to create a space that reflects each child’s unique needs. Every home setting offers engaging, play-based activities that support learning through daily routines and social interaction. Importantly, this model also provides an opportunity for individuals to become family day care educators themselves—creating a rewarding, flexible career while making a difference in children's lives.
